Travel to Ituren, Navarre, Spain has been left up to the indiviudual although there are easy public transport connections to the area from San Sebastian, Irun, Bilbao and Pamplona. For those arriving at Biarritz airport in France, the other side of the border, we also offer a free pick-up service on the first day of our holidays (at specific times). Please enquire. Vueling, Easyjet and other airlines offer flights to Bilbao airport from many UK and European destinations. From Bilbao airport there is a direct, hourly, shuttle bus service to/from San Sebastian bus station from where there are easy, local public buses to our area. We are more than happy to drop down to our nearby village from of Santesteban / Doneztebe to pick up guests from the bus. Pamplona is also served by the same local bus service. See www.labaztanesa.com
Due to simple logistics and the fact that we are a very small company we are only able to offer a pick-up service from Biarritz airport on the first day of the holiday. (We then have to get back to the farmhouse (an hour away) to serve the Cava and do the welcome talk!). We try to be as flexible as possible, however it is impossible to please all travel solutions all the time as our guests come from such a wide range of places. On the whole we tend to pick-up at Biarritz airport sometime between 15.00 - 17.00 (tying in with the arrival of the Ryanair London Stansted and Dublin flights which can vary from year to year ). On the final day of the holiday we offer to take guests back to Biarritz airport to catch the return of the same London Stansted flight (currently around 17.30). Those wanting to go to San Sebastian / Pamplona / Irun on the final day we will happily drop you back at the local bus in Santesteban /Donestebe for the 09.00 or 10.00 bus. As the arrivals and departures days (which can sometimes be the same day if we are running groups back to back!!!) are often the most complex days of the week do please get in touch with me so I can try to coordinate things as best I can! Whatever happens we haven´t left anyone stranded over night at an airport yet ... a solution can always be found.
Those travelling by car, don't have a look at Google Maps as they locate the Pyrenean Experience on the wrong side of the mountain! Here is the exact GPS location to be followed
We are 4km up from the village of Ituren on the valley floor and not the easiest to find. However, if we want any social life at all (or to run a business), we have to give very clear written directions. Please ask for a well-tested directions sheet!
As you will see on the map below, Ituren is a small village in the western Pyrenees in northern Navarra. We are situated just 30 minutes south of the French border, an hour south-west of Biarritz, an hour south-east of the glorious seaside town of San Sebastian and an hour north of the mediaeval town of Pamplona.
